Located in Wheaton, IL, Cantigny (pron Cantiny) is a sprawling and lush 500-acre park where families wander through nature, get lost in history, play golf at an award-winning course, attend a big band concert, tag monarch butterflies, make a snow globe, take classes, introduce children to the age-old custom of afternoon tea, attend a wide variety of special programs and events.
In addition to vast formal gardens and picnic and camping grounds, Cantigny offers two history-rich museums: the Robert R. McCormick Museum and the Cantigny First Division Museum, fascinating for children and researchers alike.

We LOVE Cantigny! Open grassy areas, great gardens, tanks to climb on! SO much fun. And while there isn’t a playground or swingset, the kids love it more than most parks we go too. They love to climb on the tanks and play int he children’s garden (which is so amazing and imaginative!) There is water fountain that they allow the kids to play in when it is hot outside (so bring extra clothes- they don’t allow bathing suits). It is a suburban must-do for sure!! Even you city folks should come check it out (even if it is out in the western suburbs)! You won’t be sorry. It only costs $5 per car and there is plenty of close parking. We love, love Cantigny!!

We love the children’s garden. My boys love to cool off in the water play areas. They have a nice area with tables where we can eat so we like to bring lunch and have a picnic.

Cantigny is a lot of fun - they have a park & lots of picnic tables & a splash pad when it’s warm. The bathrooms are nice & big. My only real complaint was that the woman working at the desk in the visitor’s center was really not happy with kids being there. She gave us some looks when the kids weren’t completely silent & gave us a bit of an attitude. We weren’t the only ones because another parent there warned us that she did not like kids. Otherwise, a great place!
