Practice Love

Love. It’s a word we hear a lot in our culture but, do we actually know and understand what it means? In this age of mass shootings, bullying, racial tension, and terrorism it often seems like we do not.

It’s easy to say we love someone or something and much harder to act on it. We are not only called as a society to love and protect people we know like our family and friends, but also strangers. Even harder than loving a stranger is loving those whose lifestyles we don’t agree with. But guess what? Even those people deserve love and respect and who are we to deny  them that?!

Each day I turn on the news and am disgusted and frustrated by all of the hate. It’s all we ever hear about. I found some stories of hope and kindness worth sharing. They show amongst all the chaos good people do exist. If only we could all be a bit more like these folks.

Acts of love don’t alway have to be a huge gesture. Sometimes all someone needs is a smile or a kind word. In reality, how hard is it for us to give more smiles and kindness in our lives? If we all started to think of others and not only ourselves just a little bit more I believe the world would be a much happier place.
